Celebrity chef wins make 2014 top year for Hensons
Raymond Blanc and Heston Blumenthal put Hensons Famous Salt Beef on the menu as leading catering butcher has a stellar year – with new customers, new products and a record increase in turnover.
London, November 28, 2014: Leading wholesaler and expert catering butcher Hensons is celebrating its best year to date with double-digit turnover growth and top new customers that include Raymond Blanc’s Brasserie Blanc and Heston Blumenthal’s The Perfectionist Café at Heathrow’s new look Terminal 2.
Andrew Brook, managing director, Hensons, says, “2014 has been an amazing year for Hensons with some of the country’s best premium casual dining groups asking us to supply them. Brasserie Blanc and The Perfectionists Café are the icing on the cake and we are delighted to be supplying them with Hensons Famous Salt Beef. This year we’ve also started working with the on-trend South African concept restaurant Bunnychow, Richard Caring’s Ivy Market Grill and Jackson & Rye, Sports Bar and Grill Group and the Good Life Diners. For the past few years, we have been using our knowledge of good food and where to source it to build a strong reputation in the premium casual dining market. That investment is now paying off as chefs – including top names – recognise that we understand what they need and can work with them to develop the perfect product for their menus.”
This year Hensons has expanded its range of Gourmet butchery products to include Scottish farm-assured beef from Aberdeen Angus and Angus Cross breeds, together with additions to its range of Gourmet Burgers and Meatballs.
Hensons spicy Gourmet Lamb Kofta Burgers and Gourmet Lamb and Mint Burgers are made to order from specially selected fresh Welsh lamb. Following the same successful formula as the top-selling Hensons Gourmet Burgers, the new Hensons Gourmet Meatballs use top quality beef, carefully seasoned and formed to cook evenly and remain perfectly juicy. In 10g and 20g sizes, these juicy morsels are super versatile: perfect as a delicious base for meatball dishes in a range of cuisines from Italian and Turkish, to Swedish and South African or as the perfect festive canapé with seasonal dips.
Hensons has earned a reputation across London and the south-east as experts in the art and science of gourmet burgers. Hensons Gourmet Burgers come in all sizes from cocktail right up to 280g and are also available as square and artisan shapes – with over a million burgers sold so far this year.
The 20-restaurant group Blanc Brasseries has just added Hensons Famous Salt Beef to its entrée menu offering it as a warm salt beef salad with sweet picked grelot onions and gherkin, baby cabbage and mustard dressing. Clive Fretwell, executive chef director, Brasserie Blanc, said: “Hensons Famous Salt Beef is perhaps the best salt beef available in the UK. A big thank you to chef Eric Chavot, who introduced me to it.”
Heston Blumenthal’s The Perfectionist Café concept – inspired by the “In Search of Perfection” TV series – caters to travellers who want exceptional food quickly and celebrates some of Britain’s favourite dishes. It serves Hensons Famous Salt beef slow-cooked hot or cold on a rye bread sandwich with mustard and dill pickles.
